Pretzel Bun Madness (I did it)

Holy Toledo Batman I made pretzel buns.  It may not seem that hard to some of you, but to me baking is a chore.  Al through lately you would not think that.  I have been experimenting with different methods and came up with the best one.  You will not be disappointed I guarantee.

Enjoy.

Ingredients

1 Cup of Milk
2 Tbl Butter
2 Tbl Brown Sugar
1 Package of Yeast
2 Tsp salt
3 to 3 1/2 Cups All Purpose Flour

Boiling Solution

3 Quarts of Water
3/4 Cup Baking Soda

Egg Wash

1 Egg
1 Tsp Water

Making the Dough

  • First thing we do is heat up the milk and butter together to 110 degrees
  • Add the milk and butter mixture to your mixing bowl
  • Add your yeast packet, brown sugar and salt
  • Mix until well blended
  • Add only two cups of flour and mix for about 3 minutes or until it is well incorporated with the liquid

  • Now add the rest of your flour (it should start to feel a little sponge)
  • Take dough out and place it on a floured surface and knead the dough for 5 minutes

  • Take a large bowl and form your dough into a ball
  • Place dough in bowl and add your oil (just enough to coat it)

  • Now you have to clean up your mess
  • Place the dough in a warm spot and cover it with plastic wrap for an hour or until it is double in size
  • Once it has doubled in size
  • Turn your oven on to 400 degrees
  • Take your dough and punch it down the middle
  • Now grab a large stock pot and place your 3 quarts of water in it with your 3/4 cup of baking soda allow this to come to a boil
  • Roll it out on to a floured surface (roll it out like you are making french bread)
  • Once rolled out divided the dough into eight pieces

  •  Grab a piece and start to roll it like a ball

  • Continue to do this
  • As you are doing this your water should start to boil
  • Place your raw dough on a cookie sheet and take it to your boiling water
  • Grab a soleted spoon and place the dough pieces in one at a time
  • Only do 4 of them at a time

  • Allow these to blanch on one side for 2 minutes and flip them over and allow them to cook on the other side for another minute

  • Now you place the egg wash on them
  • Once you have done all of these take them to your counter and start to cut them in the middle

  • Place them in the oven and cook them for 15 minutes
  • Turn oven down to 350 degrees and cook for another 10 minutes or until golden brown
  • This is what your finished product will look like
Yes amazing.  Serve them with what ever it is you want to eat with.  They are to die for and I can not believe my little noggin came up with this beautiful recipe.  Enjoy everyone
