Butter Jewel Cookies (Thanks Mom)

To my Mom and Grandma, thank you for teaching me how to cook.  I have always treasured or times together baking these cookies around Christmas.  Listening to Andy Williams, Bing Crosby or Johnny Mathis The best memories I have as a kid.  This recipe is one, yes just one of my many favorites.  I hope you enjoy this one and share it with your family.

Here you all go.

Making The Cookies

  • First turn your oven to 350 degrees
  • Add your room temperature butter to mixing bowl
  • Add your sugar and mix these well, to its fluffy
  • Add your egg yolks one at a time and then your vanilla
  • In another bowl mix your flour and salt together and mix well
  • Add this to your sugar mixture
  • Once it's all mix together, it will form into a big ball
  • Grab your cookie trays and start rolling your dough into balls
  • Place your thumb in the middle and press down

  • Now do about two pan of these at a time
  • Bake in the oven for about 10-12 minutes or until a little brown
  • Before they go in
  • And this is what they look like after they come out
  • Now allow these to cool before you place the frosting on them
  • Here is the recipe for the frosting
Frosting

2 Cups of Powdered Sugar

All you do is put all of these ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix until smooth.  Add whatever food coloring you would like and start decorating your cookies

  • Now that the cookies have cooled it is time to decorate them
  • I used red and green food coloring

Enjoy everyone and have a happy holiday.
